Sir,

HONG KONG GENERAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

11th October, 1938.

I am directed to state that at a recent

meeting of the General Committee of the Hong Kong

General Chamber of Commerce, attention was drawn

to the fact that the response to the annual appeals

for subcriptions to the Hong Kong Travel Association

is confined to a few firms and that little support

is received from the many other interests which

benefit from the introduction of visitors to the

Colony.

The Committee of the Chamber is of the

unanimous opinion that the cost of administering the

Hong Kong Travel Association should be met out of the

general revenues of the Colony and that there should

be no further appeal for subscriptions. This, it

is submitted, would be more equitable and in accordance

with practice in the United Kingdom where cost

of advertising is borne by Municipalities and not by

individuals.

The Honourable

The Colonial Secretary,

HONG KONG.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servant,

(Sd.) E. R. Price.

Acting Secretary.
