TELEGRAM from the Secretary of State for the Colonies
to the Governor of Hong Kong.
(Sent 5.0 p.m., 2nd October, 1939)
No.238 Confidential.
Your confidential telegram No.314. Income
Tax expert.
I regret that in view of the war there is
no prospect that the services of expert from Inland
Revenue Department can be made available. If
therefore it is decided to introduce income tax in the
Colony it will be necessary to do so without such
expert help. I am however forwarding to you a
selection of Income Tax Ordinances of other Colonies
which I hope will be of assistance to your advisers
in that event.
