13 July, 1939.
You will remember that in my letter to you
of the 6th of April I mentioned that the Governor of
Hong Kong had appointed a representative local
committee to report on the future development of
Hong Kong University.
We have now received the report of this
Committee, and next week we shall be discussing the whole question of the University's future with the
Vice-Chancellor, D.J.Sloss, who has now arrived in
England.
As we may well have occasion to consult
the Foreign Office on various points in the report
itself and others which may arise in the course of
these discussions, you will no doubt like to have
the enclosed copy of the report.
Yours sincerely,
R. G. HOWE, ESQ., C.M.G.
