C.R.C.C. No.X/11361/AQ.
Sir,
|| A
Headquarters,
China Command,
Hong Kong.
29th May, 1937.
I have the honour to refer to Your Excellency's
letter No.896/290c II dated 21st May, 1937, regarding the
removal of the ropeway between the Arsenal Yard and Kennedy
Road Magazine.
It is regretted that the letter of His Excellency,
the General Officer Commanding, No.X/11361/AQ. dated 10/4/37,
conveyed the impression that the Naval and Military Au-
thorities did not appreciate their responsibility in regard
to the dismantling of the ropeway. I would now assure
you, however, that so far as this Headquarter is concerned,
the situation is clearly understood, namely, that the Naval
Authorities are primarily responible for the dis-mantling
of the ropeway within the area to be handed over by them
to the Colonial Government.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant.
K.A. Seth Smith.
Brigadier,
Commanding the Troops, Hong Kong Area.
His Excellency,
The Officer Administering
HONG KONG.
the Government.
