(3) lovemy May
With reference to paragraph 4 of your 4 confidential despatch of 27th April, 1939, on the
subject of secondary education policy in this Colony, I have the honour to inform you that, in accordance with the view of the Advisory Committee on Education in the Colonies that physical training may be entrusted to the younger members of a school staff who are qualified for the purpose, one physical training class for women teachers and two such classes for men have now been instituted. The teachers who completed the course in these classes are now undertaking some physical training work in their own schools with encouraging
results.
Further classes of a similar kind and refresher
courses will be arranged in future.
2.
It is hoped to extend this principle to teachers in training at the University of Hong Kong as well as to those who will be enrolled in the new Teachers' Training Centre.. It should therefore be possible within a few years to entrust the physical training in Anglo-Chinese schools for both boys and girls to the teaching staffs.
3.
With regard to your further comments on the general curriculum in paragraph 4 of your despatch under
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
