of the Prisons Department who request that payment of
pensions at the privileged rate may be continued. this petition puts the case in a slightly different
manner, I enclose a copy of it for your information.
1. With reference to the fourteenth paragraph
of the first petition I would inform you that the
petitioners are in error. Actually all sterling
salaries paid in Hong Kong are at present converted
at the rate of 1/3d. $1. No dollar salaries are
=
paid outside Hong Kong except in India, where for convenience an average rate based on the market rate for the preceding six months is used.
