12. At that date the current rate was about HK$100 equals
82 Rupees which is approximately the current rate now.
13. Your Petitioners receive no compensation for the adverse
rate of exchange under any other circumstances in which they
depend on Indian currency such as when they are on leave or when
they purchase remittances for their families.
14. Your Petitioners therefore humbly submit that having
regard to the longer period which they have to serve to earn
the maximum rates of pension they should be, at least, on an
equal footing with other officers in the service of the Hong
Kong Government in the matter of the computation of the amount on
which pensions are to be assessed and that the housing allowance
should as in the case of other officers be added to the average
salary. They further submit that having regard to prevailing
conditions the minimum rate of exchange at which pensions have
hitherto been paid in India should not be interfered with.
