(x) The school authorities must satisfy the

Director that the school is efficiently managed, and the

pupils efficiently taught; and that, having regard to

the provision already made by schools already in receipt

of subsidy, it is filling a genuine need; and, having

regard to its own constitution, is likely to be able to

continue to render useful service.

(3) SPECIAL CONDITIONS REQUIRED OF SUBSIDIZED SCHOOLS.

3. The school must have a Correspondent recognized

by the Director, to whom the Director pays any subsidy

earned and with whom he corresponds in any matter arising

out of the conduct of the school.

4. The Correspondent shall be deemed to be the manager within the meaning of Section 2 of the Education

Ordinance, and will be responsible to the Director for

the conduct of the school.

(i)

In particular he shall

(I) appoint a Head Teacher charged with the

supervising of the teaching and the maintaining of the discipline in the school; and see that such Head Teacher does not (except by express exemption of the Director)

absent himself during school hours.

(II) provide suitable attendance registers and such

other books of record and account as the Director may from

time to time prescribe; and see that they are regularly and promptly and accurately kept: and submitted to the Director, together with any other prescribed returns, at

such places and at such intervals as the Director may

decide.

5. In order to qualify for subsidy the school must

have met on every day during the period concerned

excepting the customary vacations and holidays approved
