(1) INTRODUCTORY.
The Code aids Education, and in particular
primary education, by means of monetary subsidies paid to
Vernacular Schools on the advice of the Director.
(2) GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR SUBSIDY.
2. (i) The school shall observe all the regulations
made from time to time under the Education Ordinance.
(ii) The school must be open at all reasonable times
to the inspection with or without notice, by any officer
authorized by Government to inspect.
(iii) The income shall be applied solely to the
purposes of the school.
(iv) No child shall be refused admission on other ?
than reasonable grounds.
(v) The school shall provide, in whole or part,
a primary course according to a model approved by the
Director, or its substantial equivalent. It may provide
in addition a middle school course but in no case will
grant be paid in respect of higher standards except to
schools providing all the lower standards leading up to
them.
(vi) The school shall comply with the special
conditions for subsidized schools set out below in this
Code.
(vii) Except in the case of schools specifically
affiliated to a parent society already receiving subsidy,
no school shall qualify for subsidy until it has been
registered for at least one year.
(viii) The school must not be in receipt of grant
under any other Code.
(ix) No urban school shall be eligible for subsidy
whose average attendance for the period in respect of
which subsidy is claimed was less than 20.
