WHY

DENISON HOUSE,

To:-

The Under-Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

Downing Street,

S.W.1.

Sir,

296 VAUXHALL BRIDGE ROAD,

LONDON, S.W.1. (CLOSE TO VICTORIA STATION.)

18th October, 1938.

At the General Committee of this Society, which

met on the 13th instant, the members had before them a

report which appeared in the "Hong Kong Sunday Herald" of

3rd July last of a raid by Miss Phyllis Harrop, the Lady

Assistant to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs, on premises

in Jaffee Road, Wanchai, when eleven Chinese girls were

found, all believed to be the victims of an organised

trafficking in women and girls.

I am requested by the Committee to enquire

whether any report upon this particular case has been

received by the Department, and whether the Government

is satisfied that there are no other centres at which

girls, and possibly boys, are being sold in Hong Kong.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

نییه هم واسه

Secretary.
