(vi) To supervise generally official work in
connection with the crews of ships.
All work under the Safety and Load Line
Conventions is done by the sub-department of the Government Marine Surveyor, but the Deputy Shipping Master would be responsible, when opening or adjusting Articles, to see that the limits laid down in the
Certificate were not exceeded in the Articles and to inspect the ships log to see that the necessary drills, boat-drill, closing water-tight doors etc. as
prescribed, had been carried out.
