E.No.2.
Legislative Council of the 7th of August, 1902, of which
a copy is enclosed, I consider that there is no ground whatsoever for continuing this practice as regards any
future pensions although it presumably must continue as
regards pensions already granted. Subject to your agreement therefore I intend to propose to the Legislative Council the rescission of the Resolution as regards all future Widows' and Orphans' Pensions. General Order 202 (4)
would then be amended to read as follows:
"Except as regards pensions being paid before the
all pensions
day of
will be paid at the current rate of exchange."
I shall be glad to know whether you consider it necessary that the effect of this rescission should be communicated
to all officers now on pension since the benefits receivable by their dependants under the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Scheme may be affected.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
hot. hothart.
Gove mor.
