Short title.
A BILL
intituled
An Ordinance to make provision for the erection of
a permanent memorial to His late Majesty King George V.
Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with
the advice and consent of the Legislative Council
thereof, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the King George
V Memorial Ordinance, 1938.
Interpretation. 2. In this Ordinance:-
Powers.
"The Fund" means the sum of money raised in the
year 1936 by public subscription for the erection of
a permanent memorial to His late Majesty King George
V pursuant to an appeal made by Sir Andrew Caldecott,
K.C...G., C.B.E. and now lying to the credit of the
Hong Kong Government in the Hong Kong and Shanghai
Banking Corporation.
3. (1) It shall be lawful for the Governor to undertake
any of the following:-
(a) to adapt, level and lay-out land for the establish-
ment of public parks and children's playgrounds.
(b) to furnish and equip such public parks and children's playgrounds with such appurtenances as may be considered
desirable or necessary
(c) to erect memorial entrances, commemorative arches
or other similar structures.
(d) to acquire by purchase, grant in exchange or other-
wise land for the purpose of the establishment of public
parks and children's playgrounds.
(e) to construct all accessory works which may be
necessary or desirable for the carrying out of the
provisions of this Ordinance.
