A provisional estimate of the total cost of
a new infectious diseases hospital was given in 1933 as
$165,000 but this estimate was based on the accommodation
then considered necessary and may have little relation
to present requirements. The question is being examined
by the Director of Public Works and a revised estimate
will be submitted as soon as possible. The Finance
Committee of the Legislative Council have already expressed
their informal approval of the scheme and I shall be glad
if I may be given authority under Colonial Regulation
No.265 to obtain their formal consent to a vote for the
additional expenditure under the new sub-head.
