I have the honour to forward for your
information copies of the following correspondence in
case the question is raised with you from the War
Office:-

(1) A letter from the Asiatic Petroleum Company
(South China) Limited, of the 15th of March,
1938, addressed to the Director of Public Works,
Hong Kong.
(2) A secret telegram from the General Officer
Commanding the British Troops in China
addressed to the War Office, stating the
military views upon the project outlined in
the foregoing.
(3) A plan indicating the two areas Tsun Wan and
Yau Tong.
The intention of the Company hitherto has
been to reclaim land at Tsun Wan as an oil installation.
It has now been suggested to the Company by the local Military Authorities that the installation should be
set up at Yau Tong, which it will be observed lies within the Hong Kong harbour, the object being to bring
