Pensionable emoluments, including one-sixth for
quarters, £1108-6-8.
No other additions to staff or changes in salary
are necessary in connection with the establishment of the new
department. The Superintendent of Accounts and Stores is at
present responsible for Public Works Department accounts as well
as for stores but his office is so organized that the whole of
the staff dealing with stores can be removed without affecting the
accounts work. Arrangements have already been made to effect
certain changes in personnel in order to provide that a
sufficiently experienced officer of the Senior Clerical and
Accounting Staff remains in the Public Works Department to take
charge of the accounts work.

The new Central Store will not be finished until the
end of this year or later but I do not consider it necessary to
await its completion before bringing into operation the proposed
reorganization of the Stores Department and I suggest that the
change should be effected as soon as your approval has been
given.
