My dear Northcote,

Thank you for your letter of the 24th

of December enclosing a copy of a letter you sent to

Blunt at Canton on the subject of the Canton-Kowloon

railway.

We are in general agreement with your

views on this subject, and approve of your doing what

you think expedient to facilitate the re-opening of

the railway, without going so far as to press the

matter formally on the Japanese authorities.

Yours sincerely,

SIR GEOFFRY NORTHCOTE,K.C.M.G.

Jd. R. Cowell
