ORGANIZATION OF THE RED CROSS MEDICAL CORPS

The field organization of the Red Cross Medical Corps

(R.J.M.C.) comprises three services, viz., Medical, Transportation,

and Supply, the basic formations of which are the Medical Units,

Transportation Convoys, and Supply Depots.

Medical Unitss

(1) Ambulance ünit.

Each Ambulance Unit consists of one

doctor, who serves as the unit leader; one nurse or dresser as

assistant unit leader; and 16 dressers, organized into 5 teams;

1. cook and 1 orderly.

Duties

General administration, Technical supervision, Business management,

Sanitation, quartering.

First-aid,

Dressing of wounded Nursing care,

General care of wounded

during transit.

The function of the mbulance Unit is primarily to take

care of the wounded at the front or during transit (vis: first-aid,

dressing, nursing). These units are to be assigned to dressing or

receiving stations, hospital trains or boats. They may also help

in hospitals or in preventive work when necessary.
