(410) With reference to Colonial Office memorandum
No.53852/38 of the 6th October, 1938, enclosing a copy of
a letter to the Admiralty, on the subject of the possibility
of negotiating with the Chinese Government for the extension
of the present lease of the New Territories of Hong Kong,
I am commanded by the Air Council to acquaint you, for the
information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that
they are in agreement with his view that the matter is not
of such urgent importance as to require reference to the
Committee of Imperial Defence at the present time.

Foreign Office, War Office, Admiralty, Treasury and Board
of Trade.
