Sir,
With reference to my despatch No. 3 of 1st December,
1937 regarding the Gloster Aircraft sent to Hong Kong for
onward conveyance to China, I have the honour to report
that twenty Gloster Gladiator single seater fighters have
now been assembled in Canton by Mr. Summers and his
mechanics.

The machines were tested and passed by Mr.
I am informed that subsequently five of these
machines have been damaged in the course of use by Chinese
pilots.
3. Mr. Summers is now back in Hong Kong awaiting
the arrival of cases containing the further sixteen Gloster
machines which I understand are now on the high seas.
