I have the honour to refer to your secret telegram 94 No. 127 of the 6th July, 1938, and to inform you that the

aeroplane belonging to Madame Chiang Kai-shek, having been assembled in the Colony, left for Hankow by air on the 23rd July, 1938, at 11.05 a. m.

2.

All fittings on the aeroplane which could directly

or indirectly be used for the installation of armament were

removed prior to its departure: and I enclose a copy of my permit authorizing the flight.

3.

I have on record the assurance of Madame Chiang

Kai-shek that the aeroplane will be used solely for

personal transport purposes in a letter dated the 11th

July, 1938, which she addressed to Sir Archibald Clark Kerr.
