My father is named CHEUNG CHIK LIN aged
50
63 years. He is the master of Fishing JΜnk No.291, the name of which is CHRUNG KAM KEI. He told me once that he had put my name as well as his own on the licence. It would have been mine when he died. The junk was built by the CHUEN HING Boat Yard, Shaukiwan, about three years. It cost over $1000.00 and today including nets and boat gear, would be worth about $6000.
The last time I saw my father was on 27.4.38
when he left Shaukiwan in the junk to go on a fishing trip. There were about 40 persons on board, mostly natives of Shaukiwan.
Sometime after 13.00 hours on 5.5.38, one of
my father's foki named CHEUNG SHAP NG came and told me that my father's Junk had been attacked and burnt by Japanese and all hands, except hlaself and five girls, had been killed. To went to Shaukiwan Police Station and then to Water Police Station.
