With reference to telegram No. 1477 of the
16th December from His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokyo,
a copy of which has already been transmitted to the
Colonial Office under cover of Foreign Office printed
letter of even number of the 20th December, I am
directed by Viscount Halifax to inform you that he
approves of the action suggested by Sir Robert Craigie
and that he would propose, subject to the concurrence
of Mr. Secretary Macdonald, to telegraph to Tokyo to
that effect.
2. A copy of this letter is being sent to the
Admiralty.
