Honourable Harbour Master.
Honourable Commissioner of Police.
With regard to the attacks on Chinese fishing junk s
etc. by the Japanese I would be glad if you would let me know
whether in fact you have had any ameals unsolicited or other-
wise from the victims for compensation.
Of all the people that have come before me not a
single one has asked for any compensation for their losses,
and this includes all those that were oross-questioned as to
the value of the property they had lost as well as to the
method of attack on them and the identity of the attackers.
Some at the end did put in a plea for the Secretariat for
Chinese ffairs itself to consider whether it could not give
them some sort of charitable help.
