Further to our letter of the 21st February, 1938,
we beg to advise that our S.S."ASIAN" was released by the Japanese Naval Authorities at 1.30 p.m. on the 19th February, and sailed from the Pescadores at 11 a.m. on the 20th,
arriving at Hong Kong at midnight on the 21st February, 1938.
As the vessel originally sailed from Hong Kong
at 9 a.m. on the 7th February, 1938, and was seized at
12.45 p.m. the same day, she was out of service for 15 days.
The Captain also reports that the Japanese Naval
crew placed on board the "ASIAN" removed from the ship certain ship's stores, foodstuffs and personal effects of the
Officers and crew of the "ASIAN", and for which a claim has
been made on us as owners for compensation. Claims have
also been presented to us by the Limestone shippers for
demurrage on Junks and cost of Coolies engaged to load the
cargo.
Our final claim for compensation from those
responsible for wrongfully detaining our S.S."ASIAN" is
as follows:-

15 days demurrage @ $1,000.00 per day.

Coal burned on trip, 180 Tons @ $22 per ton.

Fresh water consumed, 80 Tons @ 50 cents.
