telegram for the "Asian" which was received by the Japanese
wireless operator and delivered to the Captain, but the
Captain was not permitted to send a reply to that telegram.
On the 10th February, I again obtained permission
to listen to the traffic list, and there was another telegram for the "Asian", which was also received by the Japanese Wireless Operator, and no reply was sent, although the Captain again requested to send a reply to the Company, but he was not allowed.
After that I was not allowed to listen to any
traffic list from Cape Daguilar radio.
On the evening of the 11th February, the ship
arrived in Mako Naval Port (Pescadores Islands). Next morning
a party of Japanese engineers and technicians came on board and
searched the whole ship. They measured the whole ship and each part respectively. They disconnected and separated each part of the Wireless apparatus and measured them. They photo- graphed each part and made a sketch of each part, so they have damaged the receiver and the transmitter. After that the
Wireless room was locked up. I was not allowed to use the
Wireless apparatus until we sailed for Hong Kong.
I repaired the Wireless apparatus and used it
during the voyage towards Hong Kong. During the period in
Mako Naval Port, the Japanese Naval Committee took my statements about the nationality of the "Asian", and took my signature and thumb print for the statements.
