With reference to my despatch of the 24th
May last, regarding the accounts for the mainten- ance in Hongkong of refugees from Shanghai, I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that two further cases have arisen in which it appears that the persons in question were not evacuated by this
Consulate-General.

Particulars of these cases are as follows:
(a) Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Camniade were in the Refugee Centre at Lai Chi Kok from October 21st to November 11th 1937 when they left for Singapore. According to Mr. Cammiade's brother, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Cammiade left Shanghai for Hongkong in Kay 1937 and were resident there until they went to Singapore. Letters addressed to them in Singapore have been returned and their present whereabouts are unknown. The charge for their maintenance is Hongkong $126 21 days at $6 a day.
(b) Miss E.J. Rastenberg arrived in Hongkong in the s.s."Prosper" on August 30th and left in the s.s."ramis" on November 15th 1937, the charge for her maintenance in the refugee centre being $231. She held a Chinese passport, but stated to the Refugee Committee that she was a German subject. The German Consul-General in Shanghai
