With reference to your letter No. F.386/1919/10 of 10th August 1938 claiming the sum of £97.198.0d. in respect of

balance of expenditure incurred on the evacuation and

maintenance of British refugees in Hong Kong, I have the honour

Government and to request that a refund of the above amount may

be made.
