It is submitted that the duty allowance
of £50 per annum for Senior Masters
included in the proposed scales in no
way compensates for this inferiority
because such an allowance, being non-
pensionable, does not bring the holder
above the 15 Year Time Scale. It cannot,
therefore, be regarded as promotion
similar to that obtainable on the West
African scales.
Your petitioners would respectfully
suggest that there are posts in Hong Kong
(Two Inspectorships, Headmasterships of
queen's College, King's College and Central British School) which are of
corresponding responsibility, demand
equal administrative ability, and should
therefore be accorded comparable salaries
to those granted for super scale posts
in West Africa.
It is their further submission that
Junior Headmasterships in Hong Kong
(Headmaster ships of Ellis Kadoorie Indian
School, Ellis Kadoorie Chinese School,
Wantsai 3chool and Yaumati School) are
posts of sufficient importance and
responsibility to merit for their holders
remuneration on a scale equivalent to
that of the Senior Grade of the West
African Scales.
