I have the honour to acknowledge the letter from the

Colonial Office dated January the 2nd, regarding the salary scales

of Matrons and Nursing Sisters in the service of the Hong Kong

Government.

I enclose the leaflet giving general information of

conditions of service in Hong Kong, which is sent by the Overseas

Nursing Association to prospective candidates for appointment

in this Colony. I shall be glad to know whether clause 10 is

still correct or whether all NursingSisters are eligible for the

pensionable establishment if their services are retained at the

end of their three years' agreement.

It is noted that the Secretary of State has approved of

the number of posts of Matron and Senior Nursing Sister being

increased. I shall be glad to know whether Question 2 on page
