3. The Governor/suggested that the rate of pay

to be given to the candidate selected should be £1250

per annum. It is assumed that this sum includes an

element of command pay and it appears to be for

consideration whether this element (say £150) should

not be shown separately from the substantive pay of

the post. The Secretary of State would be glad to

receive the Council's observations on this point.

4. The Governor states that he is aware that

the Army Council have expressed the view that a prior

charge on such funds as are available should be an

responsibility for the pay and allowances of the

Adjutant of the Defence Corps. He feels strongly,
