I am commanded by the Army Council to acknowledge receipt of Colonial Office letter No. 353567/38 dated 26th April, 1938 and in reply to state

for the information of Mr. Secretary MacDonald that vacancies as follows can be reserved for the personnel of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, who are the subject of the correspondence :-

Serial No. 432: No. 25 Detachment Commanders (Control) Instructors Course at the School of Electric Lighting from 10th to 22nd October, 1938.

(b) Gunner F.J. Anslow.

Serial No. 344: 3rd Quick Firing (T.A.) Course at the Coast Artillery School from 31st October to 5th November, 1938.

I am to say that it is regretted that no vacancies are available at the School of Electric Lighting at dates more likely to be suitable for Lance- Corporal Casey, and to request that the Council may be informed whether he will be able to accept the vacancy offered.
