AIR RAIDS: 14TH APRIL 1938.
I have to report that the Railway was raided by 10 enemy planes on the 14th instant at 15.46 hours at cheklung and 22 bombs were dropped at the following places:-
2 bombs at East River Bridge (3 spans 224' & 2 spans 60')
without damage.
8 bombe in East River Yard
80 new sleepers and 100 old ones badly damaged.
Permanent Way Inspector's Trolley entirely destroyed.
Turntable, P. W. Store Office and Railway Police quarters slightly damaged.
8 bombs at Tung Kun River Bridge (4 spans 224' & 2 spans
60') damaging about 50 feet timber gang-way
1 bomb
at outh end of Tung Kun Bridge

Station
Building of Tungkun-Sheklung Highway entirely demolished.
at Km. 65/7, damaging 3 pairs of rails, 15 sleepers
and the embankment, depth of crater being about 15 feet.
at Km. 65 without damage to the Railway.
at Km.65/9, damaging 3 pairs of rails and making
a crater of about 8' in depth in embankment.
Repairs were completed at 22.10
