Situation report ending 1000 hours October 29th.
Japanese in delta have occupied Fatshan 10 miles south
west of Canton.
Chinese troops have retired to Yingtak (?in) north and
to Dosing near Wuchow on west river and are out of contact for the
present though concentrations are being subjected to aerial
bombardment.
French Charge d'Affaires on the way Chungking stated
cessation of arms traffic through Haiphong due to congestion not
to political expediency. Docks are blocked with 45,000 tons of
munitions whilst capacity of railway only 8,000 tons per mensem.
Monsieur Picot expects Japanese will shortly extend their
activities to Hainan and Pakhoi to dominate munitions route
through Nanking and threaten Yunnan railway.
