This is a very useful statement showing

fairly clearly the main sources of munitions sent to

China through Hong Kong. U.S.A. and Germany are the

largest sources of supply, U.S.A. supplying mainly

aircraft and Germany, ammunition. Britain supplies a considerable quantity of aircraft and ammunition,

and Sweden, Czecho-Slovakia and Russia supply

considerable quantities of the latter.

It is scarcely worth while copying the

summary for other Departments, and I suggest that, as before, the duplicate should be sent to the Foreign Office, and they should be asked to send it on to the

B. of T. in due course, as no additional copies are

available here.

248.

The figures are a considerable drop on

those for the previous few weeks. Copies have been

distributed to Departments as usual, and the graph

has been brought up to date.
