I have the honour to confirm my confidential

telegram No.29 of the 29th of January, 1938, in which I

requested that one of the three Police Cadets to be

selected in August 1938 should undergo the course of

training referred to in your confidential despatch of

the 15th of January, 1938, at the Metropolitan Police

College, Hendon.

2. With reference to the last sentence of my

telegram under reference, it is desired that one of

the two remaining Police Cadets should be selected with

a view to his proceeding direct to Hong Kong to commence

the study of Japanese. The third should also proceed

direct to Hong Kong where it is proposed that he should

commence the study of Chinese and continue with the

curriculum of former Police Probationers.
