Such a meeting would also be a useful preparation
before Mr. Sloss himself comes home on leave next
summer. It may be mentioned that Mr. Sloss
has been down to Singapore for consultation with
the Raffles College Commission, and it is
appreciated that the position of the University
at Hong Kong must be considerably affected if it
were decided on that Commission's recommendation
to develop Raffles College into a University at
Singapore. We shall be able shortly to ascertain
from Sir W. McLean (who returns to England with
Professor Channon on Christmas Eve) what his
recommendations are likely to be in respect of
Raffles College.
