(2) The Postmaster-General may in his discretion require proof to his satisfaction of the identity of the applicants and of their authority to withdraw the deposits of the Society.

(3) The application may request that the sum to be withdrawn may be paid to any one or more of the applicants (where they officer are more than one) to the exclusion of the others or to any of the Society, and where the Society is a Registered Branch, to any officer of the Central Body or of any other Branch.

(4) The Warrant issued on such application shall be made out in the name of the Society, or of the person entitled for the time being to withdraw the deposits of the Society, or of any person named by them under the last preceding sub-clause, and the receipt of the person so entitled or named shall be a good discharge to the Postmaster-General for the sum stated in the Warrant.

38.-(1) An application to withdraw money deposited in the names of the trustees or treasurer of any Charitable Society, shall be made by any persons for the time being recognised by the Postmaster-General as entitled to withdraw such money.

(2) The Postmaster-General may in his discretion require proof to his satisfaction of the identity of the applicants and of their authority to withdraw the deposits of the Society.

(3) The application may request that the sum to be withdrawn may be paid to any one or more of the applicants (where they are more than one) to the exclusion of the others or to any officer

39.--(1) An application to withdraw any money deposited in the name of a Body Corporate shall be made under the Seal of such Body Corporate or by the Secretary or Treasurer or two of the Directors of such Body for the time being.

(2) The Postmaster-General may require proof to his satis- faction that any person signing an application fills the office he claims to hold.

(3) When an application for the withdrawal of money is made under the Seal of a Body Corporate or by Directors of such Body, the applicants may request that the sum to be withdrawn may be paid to any officer of the Body Corporate though not one of the applicants.

(4) The Warrant issued on such application shall be made out in the name of the Body Corporate or of the person signing the application, or of any officer specified by them under the last preceding sub-clause, and a receipt under the Corporate Seal or the receipt of the applicants or officer (as the case may be) shall be a good discharge to the Postmaster-General for the sum stated in the Warrant.

(5) Withdrawals from accounts opened pursuant to sub-clause

2 of Regulation 12 hereof shall be made in accordance with the conditions required by the Postmaster-General pursuant to such sub-clause.

(2) The Registrar shall establish to the satisfaction of the Post- master-General that the withdrawal is authorised by the Treasury. Courts.

(3) The Warrant issued on such application shall be made out in the name of the Registrar and his receipt shall be a good discharge to the Postmaster-General for the sum stated in the Warrant.

(4) The Postmaster-General may require proof to his satis- faction that the receipt on any Warrant issued in the name of a Registrar is signed by such Registrar and that any person pre- senting such Warrant for payment is duly authorised by the Registrar to receive on his behalf the money payable on such Warrant.

(5) Payment by the Postmaster-General of the amount specified in a Warrant to any officer of a Registrar or to any person duly authorised in writing by the Registrar to receive payment of the money payable on the Warrant shall be deemed to be payment to the Registrar, and the Postmaster-General shall not be liable for any misapplication of the money so paid by any such officer or person.

42.-(1) An application to withdraw any money standing in Withdrawals the name of the Public Trustee, whether alone or as joint trustee accounts of or joint executor with some other person or persons, shall be the Public signed by the Public Trustee, and may be signed by him alone. Trustee.

(2) The application may contain an authority for the Controller

of the Post Office Savings Bank to obtain payment on his behalf and to remit the proceeds to him by cheque.

(3) The Postmaster-General may require proof to his satis- faction that any application for withdrawal is signed by the Public Trustee, or by an officer of the Public Trustee, duly anthorised by him for the purpose.

(4) Payinent by the Postmaster-General by cheque payable to the account of the Pubi Trustee at the Bank of England or some other Bank specified by the Public Trustee shall be deemed to be payment to the Public Trustee, and the Postmaster-General shall not be liable for any misapplication of the money so paid.
