that banks be permitted to lodge with the Palestine Currency
Bourd in London securities in multiples of P.2,500 instead
of the present minimum of £P. 10,000. This matter has been
examined by Government but has not been pursued further.

of Banks rendered under section 4(1)(a) of the
Banking (Amendment) Ordinance, 1936.
(b) The half-yearly analytical statements of advances
made and bille discounted rendered under section
4(1)(b) of the Banking (Amendment) Ordinance, 1936.

issues every month a bulletin of banking statistics, which
incorporates the banking figures furnished by the Examiner
of Banks. Copies of the Banking Statistics Bulletin for
January to July, 1938, are enclosed herewith.

Post Office Savings Bank :
Present conditions in Palestine re obviously unfavour-
sble for the establishment of a Post Office Savings Bank.

Co-operative Societies :
Mr. Horwill's various recommendations regarding
Co-operative Societies have been embodied in the draft of on
enlarged Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Ordinance which
has been generally approved by the Jewish Co-operative
Advisory Committee and is now under consideration by the Law
Officers.
