As a result of the present hostilities the
Wagons-Lits Company have had to land some coaches
destined for Shanghai at Hong Kong. Location was
provided for these on the Kowloon-Canton Railway,
necessitating the laying down of 14,000 feet of
siding. This siding and the material employed upon
it are the property of the Railway, and the Wagons-Lits
Company ask that in view of this its cost might be
shared equally between the Company and the Railway.
M.PTIt appears to me that if this expenditure was under-
taken entirely on behalf of the Company, then it is
only right that its cost should be paid entirely by
them. It is moreover possible that the siding in
question will be of little use to the Railway in
future. However, we might, I think, refer this to
the Colonial Government as requested, and I attach
drafts for conson.
