This gives effect to the main

provision of both Conventions Nos.4 and 6.

Further-

more, it will enable the revised Convention (No.41

flagged in Cmd.4714 annexed) concerning the

employment of women during the night, regarding which

we have recently consulted Colonial Governments by

circular despatch, to be applied to Hong Kong

without modification.

In addition, paragraph 7 of the Schedule to

the Ordinance reproduces the Regulation made on the

20th September, 1936 (flagged in volume annexed) under

the Factories and Workshops Ordinance No.27 of 1932

(now repealed by the new Ordinance) prohibiting the

employment of any female on underground work in mines

in accordance with the International Labour Convention

(No.45) dealing with this matter.

Subject to legal observations and to any

comments which the Eastern Department may have to

make on the Ordinance, the Ordinance ? may be

sanctioned by G/3.
