Sir C. Parkinson this afternoon. I was present

Wing Commander Hodsoll said that he appreciated the need for appointing an Air Raid Precautions
Officer at Hong Kong at the earliest possible moment
and he thought that he could provide from his own
staff a suitable man. He is at present one of his Inspectors and he would feel his loss very much; but, in view of Hong Kong's needs, that could not be helped. It was agreed that he should come over to the Colonial
Office for an interview in due course.

As regards Aden, Wing Commander Hodsoll said
that he had no one immediately available, and
Sir C. Parkinson mentioned that Lieutenant-Colonel
Wheeler had made an application for appointment as
an Air Raid Precautions Officer. Colonel Wheeler had
served in the R.W.A.F.F. from 1914 to 1919 and had
gas
done an Army/course in 1934, but had not been to
Falfield. Wing Commander Hodsoll said that he would
be quite willing to make arrangements for training
Colonel Wheeler if we were satisfied that he was a
suitable candidate, but that the training would take
possibly three months and would include a course of
organisation. Sir C. Parkinson said that the
Staff Officer (R.W.A.F.F./K.A.R.) should be consulted
as to Colonel Wheeler's record and his papers looked
up.
4. Wing Commander Hodsoll then enquired whether
there was any likelihood of other Colonies applying
