Completion of Road Connection at Chinese
Length of road requiring improvement
approximately 15,500 feet:
estimated cost excluding
cost of bridge 85,000 dollars. Timber bridge of
non-permanent type already partially constructed by
the Chinese Government who wish to complete but work
suspended pending the outcome of request in my cypher
telegram No.248 of the 23rd October separate steel
bridge is proposed.

Whole length of bridge as far
as north bank would be in British territory. In view
of extent to which Colony is interested General officer
Commanding does not oppose.
