pension purposes at £150 per annum.

Free passages are also provided for the

officer, his wife and family, subject to

a total maximum of five passages.

Officers serving in Hong Kong are

required to contribute to the Widows' and

at the volî d ཡ

Orphans' Pensions Scheme, four per

cent. of their salaries, unless exempt by

reason of their continuing to contribute

to another approved scheme. The pension

rate of the Colony is 1/600th of final

pensionable emoluments for each completed

month of pensionable service. The normal

retiring age is fifty-five and officers

may be called upon to retire with the approval

of the Secretary of State at the age of fifty.
