Dear Dr. O'Brien,
The Executive Committee wish me to bring to your notice a
number of criticisms that have come to the Overseas Nursing
Association about the Nursing Sisters' quarters in the new
hospital of Hong Kong.
I enclose extracts from letters from the Matron and another
member of the permanent staff. Similar criticisms have been
received from two or three nurses who have visited the Nursing
Committee when applying for other colonies after serving one tour
in Hong Kong. They say that the new quarters are small, stuffy
and noisy and that there is no room to have their personal
belongings and to make their rooms homelike.
The Committee would be grateful if you would look into
the matter and see what can be done.
Dr. A. J. O'Brien, C.M.G., Colonial Office, S.W.1.
Yours sincerely,
M. Gawan Tayla.
Secretary.
