Chairmanship of Meeting.
On the proposal of Dame Rachel Crowdy, seconded by Mr.Gull, Sir Harold Fawcus, Deputy Chairman of the General Committee, was asked, and consented, to act as Chairman of the meeting. It was agreed that Mr. Gull should act as Secretary of the meeting.
Personnel of the Committee.
Minute No.6 of the Minutes of the meeting of Signatories of the Appeal (published on October 2nd, 1937) which was held on October 7th at 3, Lombard Street, was read.
The Chairman proposed and it was agreed to invite Dr.Gordon Thompson of the Lester Institute, Shanghai, at present on furlough in England, to join the Committee.
The Chairman proposed and it was agreed that Mr.A.W.Hersee, who had been invited to represent the Lord Mayor, should be invited to attend future meetings for that purpose. This Mr. Hersee said he would be glad to do.
Chairmanship of the Committee.
In the absence of a reply from Lord Donoughmore, who in pursuance of the decision of the meeting of Signatories of the Appeal held on October 7th had been invited to be Chairman of the General Committee, no decision was reached as to the Chairmanship of this, the Executive Committee. The Committee thought, however, that if Lord Donoughmore accepted the chairmanship of the General Committee, and was also able and willing to be chairman of the Executive Committee, he should be invited to fill that post also.
Other names suggested for the chairmanship of the Committee, failing Lord Donoughmore's ability to accept it, were those of Lord Balniel, Lord Faversham and Brig.-Gen.Woodroffe, it being left to the Chairman and Mr. Gull to take the necessary action should the need for it ari se.
Finance Sub-Committee
The following were appointed to serve on the Finance Sub- Committee: for the China Association, Mr. D.G.M.Bernard and for the Conference of British Missionary Societies Mr.S.H.Dixon. It was decided to invite Major Abrahams to represent the Red Cross Society on the Sub-Committee.
