In reference to my letter of October 27th I have the honour
to inform you that at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the
Fund for the Relief of Distress in China held on Wednesday, November
3rd, it was decided to place at the disposal of His Majesty's
Ambassador for the purposes of the Fund a further sum of £10,000,
this amount to be disbursed as the Organi mtion of which he has been
good enough to assume the Presidency, considers most serviceable.
The amount in question has been remitted by the Hongkong and
Shanghai Banking Corporation and I am directed to ask you whether
you will be so good as to inform the Ambassador of this by cable.
