THE FUND AND ITS EXPENDITURE:
Mr. Hersee stated that the total of donations received at the Mansion House was approximately £43,000, exclusive of those received by the British Red Cross, the China Association and the Conference of British Missionary Societies.
It was decided to expend a further sum of £10,000 upon surgical instruments and dressings and to remit £10,000 to the Ambassador's organization in China.
Mr. Gull stated that no reply had as yet been received from the Central Committee at Shanghai to the cable despatched on October 19th.
CHINA CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE:
Mr. Gull reported that he had had a conversation wi th Mr. Kaye, the Hon. Treasurer of the China Campaign Committee, and had asked him to ascertain his Committee's views on co-operation with the Fund for the Relief of Distress in China. Mr. Kaye had replied that he would do this.

Letter from Lieut-Commi ssioner Alfred H. Barnett, of the Salvation Army, 2.11.37, suggesting the inclusion of a representative of the Army on the Executive Committee.
Decision. It was decided to inform Lieut-Commissioner Barnett that no additions to the Executive Committee were being made at the present time.
Letter from the Duke of Westminster's Secretary, 4.11.37. This was a reply to Mr. Gull's enquiry of 1.11.37 asking whether certain steps could be taken to adapt No.14, North Row to the purposes of the Clothing Sub-Committee. The reply
was noted.
Letter from the Port of London Authority, 3.11.37.
Mr. Gull informed the Committee that in this letter the Port of London Authority acceded to a request which, at the suggestion of Mr. Swi re, he had made to it that dock dues be remitted on shipments made on behalf of the Fund. The Committee expressed its gratification.

Mr. Gull stated that the Lord Mayor's publicity agents would like to obtain a photograph of this event. The Commi ttee considered it doubtful whether the P. & 0., by which the shipment was to be made, would welcome this suggestion. It was decided, accordingly, to make further enquiries.

FUTURE MEETINGS:
It was decided to hold the fifth meeting of the Executive Committee on Thursday, November 11th at 2.30 p.m. at 5, Chesterfield Gardens and the sixth on Tuesday, 16th at the offices of the British Red Cross Society.
This concluded the business of the meeting which terminated shortly after 5 p.m.
