With reference to Foreign Office letter

20. 7.8080/7455/10 of the 28th of vetober, I am directed
by Mr. Secretary Ormsby Gore to tranmit to you, to be
laid before Kir. Secretary Eden, copies of telegraphie
correspondence with the Government of Hong Kong on the
subject of road communication between Hong Kong and
Canton.
2. A copy of a letter which has been addressed to
the far office on the defence aspect of the scheme in
also enclosed.
3. kr. Orasby Gore would be glad to be informed of
Mr. Eden's views on the proposals made by the Governor o:
Hong Kong in his secret telegram ño. 268 of the 4th of
November, on the assumption that there are no military
objections to the completion of the road connection
between Hong Long and Canton, and to the construction of
a separate road bridge on the frontier.
