884. How long have you had that junk? I had it built 8 years ago.
885. What did you value it at in September this year? About $10,000.
886. You remember going on a fishing expedition in September of this year? Yes. 887. Where did you leave from? From Shaukiwan.
888. Can you tell me the date? 11th September we left Shaukiwan, 889. Were you accompanied by another junk when you left?
Mun's junk, but I met a lot of other junks afterwards. 890. Where did you sail to from Shaukiwan? San Mei. 891. From San Mei where did you go to? To Chelong.

I only saw the light from the lighthouse.

910. Can you give me any idea of the distance between your pair and Fung Hing-wo's
pair? About three times the length of this court.
911. Whilst you were fishing that morning did you notice anything happen? A
Japanese vessel attacked us.
912. Why do you say it was a Japanese vessel? Because the appearance of that vessel was like one of a submarine, and it is only a Japanese submarine that would attack Chinese.
913. How far away was this submarine when you first noticed it? Very far away,
only just within sight when I first saw it.
914. What was it that first attracted your attention to it? I was on the lookout for fishing and could see this vessel at a long distance, and this vessel came nearer and nearer to us.
915. Did you see it do anything after you first saw it? As soon as this vessel came
near enough to us it fired at us.
916. Can you tell me which junk was fired at first? Shek Kai-cheung's pair was first
hit.
I 917. Could you see all that from where you were? saw the submarine fire at
Shek Kai-cheung's junk.
918. How did you know it was firing at Shek Kai-cheung's junk? I saw the sub-
marine was firing at Shek Kai-cheung's junk.
919. Did you see any smoke? I heard the report of a gun and then I saw the
firing.

went down. It sank-the pair sank. 921. What did the submarine do after firing at that pair? It fired at the next pair. 922. Chairman: Which was that? Lam Chu's pair.

this pair went down also-they sank. 924. After that what did the submarine do? The next pair was Fung Hing-wo's
pair which was shot at.
